The Discus exercise will help you assess your performance at judging optic discs for signs of glaucoma. In the experiment, you are asked to grade a set of 100 non-stereoscopic optic disc images for damage, assigning categories of "definitely healthy", "probably healthy", "not sure", "probably damaged", and "definitely damaged". Each image is shown until you make your decision, or up to 10 seconds. Most images (80%) come from patients who have reproducibly normal visual fields on standard perimetry, but 20% are from patients with definite visual field loss. Your decision should be based on your perception of optic disc damage, not on how likely you think it is that there is visual field loss. (A paper by Denniss et al provides a more in-depth description of the images, the rationale of the experiment and the analyses). When you have finished, a file (*.enc) will be saved on your desktop. By uploading this file to our server, you will get an instant analysis of your overall performance compared to a group of 12 experts. All results are treated confidentially. For those of you who have been directed here because you are taking part in a study, please enter an ID as instructed. Completion of the exercise indicates to consent to participate.
